Fabulous Festive Bootcamp Weekend

Monday, November 30th, 2009

What a wonderful weekend we have just had at the Bootcamp Weekend even though the weather was more suited to ducks!  In torrential rain, and deep mud, a group of fabulous people arrived at Folly Farm in Somerset to get a little fitter, be challenged, set some goals, get motivated and have some fun!

The Energised bootcamp weekend’s are known for their balance between physical challenges, goal setting, stretching, good food and fun - everything is in balance in a supportive, relaxed environment - run by the Team including Kim, Lucy, Karen and Alex this time - with the Polish Chef’s Yarek and Dagi and the Farm Manager Philiph from South Africa so a real cultural mix on hand combined with clients travelling from as far as Inverness as well as local Bristolian’s!

I am still wondering how we packed so much in - Flexi Bar and postural classes, run’s in the mud up the hills to overlook the Chew valley lakes which everyone managed (so proud of you all!), strength, boxing, guided visualisation and NLP, nutrition, fitness talks plus one to one sessions and massage! Wow…. and we even had time to watch Strictly/X-Factor and learn how to play the handchimes with Clara and sing Happy Birthday to Katy!

I think we all agreed that during this weekend we achieved exactly what people wanted - inspiration, motivation, fresh air, fun and support -  with people exceeding their personal boundaries and achieving things they never believed they could! Well done everyone - it was wonderful to be able to work with such an inspiring, lovely group of people, I am proud of each individual and all you achieved - thank you and keep us posted how the goals/dreams go….!!

If you would like to join us on a Bootcamp Weekend or Fitness Camp that is a combination of exercise and relaxation, with a passionate, supportive team of people please just be in touch!  Our 2010 dates will be released soon for Scotland, Folly Farm and possibly Ibiza - with a one day Workshop in Bristol on 7th Feb and the Italian Fitness Camp on 2nd-8th May already confirmed and places going fast!

Photo’s of the latest camp coming soon…….

Book 2010 Energised Camps today!

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

It’s at this time of year that we start looking to the year ahead, and what we’d like it to look like for us! And here at the Energised offices, it’s no different - we are busy planning two fantastic camps for 2010, both designed to enhance the wellbeing and confidence of our guests through being energising, challenging, inspiring and fun!

In February we’ll be holding the Make It Happen in 2010 Bootcamp Weekend!  This is a coaching and wellbeing weekend which will be filled with challenging, inspiring coaching, guided hypnotherapy, anchoring, metaphor circuits and optional gentle exercise, all of which is aimed to help you feel confident about making your goals and dreams a reality in 2010!  As well as our experienced and supportive coaches, we will have a beautician and massage therapist available to you during the weekend, therefore ensuring that you leave feeling pampered, as well as confident inside and out! The weekend will be held from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th February 2010 at the beautiful Folly Farm, Chew Valley – a favourite venue for our UK camps, providing the ideal space for you to begin to make the changes you want in your life!

In addition, we will be returning to Lucca, Tuscany for the Italian Fitness Week from 2nd-8th May 2010!  This wonderful week combines cardio, core and strength training & challenges, with postural work, one-to-one treatments (including personal training, massage, life coaching & beauty treatments), day trips, delicious healthy food, relaxation, laughter & fun with a great group of people! ‘Home’ for the week is Il Borghino (www.borghino.com) – a beautifully converted farmhouse set in the Tuscan hills, just outside the picturesque town of Lucca.  This provides the ideal location for the Fitness Camp, with its own swimming pool, studio and Turkish bath, as well as spacious, comfortable accommodation and amazing views! If you would like to find out more about either of these two fantastic Energised camps, or would like to reserve your place today and take advantage of our very special pre-Christmas prices, then call Kim on 07720 845 849 - thank you!

Energised wishes Camilla Dallerup the best of luck in the Jungle!

Friday, November 13th, 2009

You may remember that this time last year, here at Energised we were delighted to be supporting Camilla Dallerup in the 2008 series of Strictly Come Dancing, which she won with celebrity dance partner Tom Chambers of Holby City and Waterloo Road fame!

So we are now very excited to be able to wish her the best of luck in the new series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

Of her forthcoming experience in the jungle, Camilla says, “I definitely think dancing will need to be brought to the camp fire.   I think we will need some entertainment and exercise when we are out there, so as not to get too bored. I just hope they are up for a dance.”  Sounds like a good ice-breaker and great fun!

Tune into ITV1 at 9pm this Sunday (15th November) to watch Camilla and her fellow celebrities survive the jungle, and join us in wishing her all the luck in the world!

Okay - so our colleague, the fab Elise Lindsey - celebrity trainer extrodinaire - use the Flexi Bar with Coleen - and low and behold, after several calls from excited clients we realised that our head coach Kim Ingleby’s photo had been used online and in the Daily Mail on Wednesday to promote the Flexi Bar. The photo was taken during our Italian Fitness Camp which we run every year in May (see the courses and events for more info about our 2010 Camp!) - Flexi Bar’s come with us on the plane to the location which causes much interest..!

At Energised we have been using the Flexi Bar on a one to one basis, and running small group courses since 2005 with outstanding results - toning tummy’s, back and arms in a short space of time, with maximum results, as well as increasing shoulder stability, improving your posture and toning your buttocks!

Our clients who have benefited from the Flexi Bar range from Premier League Rugby Players, GB Triathletes, Oesteopaths and media personalities to Mum’s (pre and post natal), people with postural problems and lower back pain and those with limited range of movement.

We are based in Bristol, and travel to London and Edinburgh frequently - if you would like a session, advice or to arrange for us to come and teach a group session for 4+ people please do just be in touch!  For media enquiries, training programmes and top tips on core and posture please contact Kim on 07720 845849.

Surviving the Slog..!

Monday, November 9th, 2009

** Featured in Tuesday’s Evening Post Sports News our Head Coach Kim ! **

So what would you do on Remembrance Sunday if you had a choice and wished to honour our soldiers past and present - of course…. you would enter the Sodbury Slog?!!  Rated top 5 Race in the UK by Runner’s World several years in a row it is definately the race to complete if you feel up to the challenge..!

So it seemed only right that after years of training others to do it, I decided to enter as Head EP Coach, along with my speedy clients including Clare and Alex!

As we headed to the start a two minute silence was held as a mark of respect, before a trumpet sounded, a firework was let loose and the pounding of the runner’s shoes was heard on the road…. this lasted all of five minutes before we trailed off into the muddy paths, ditches and other interesting roped, swamp like areas!

I am pretty sure that Size 8 feet as a lady helps you out in these conditions, although when I looked down at my feet - caked in mud as through ploughed through the ploughed fields I did wonder if they could be weighing me down!?  So as we ran through the marsh land, past questioning cows and people’s smiling faces from inside thier homes I realised that in these moments the sense of friendship and support is always present when you are doing something tough!

And clients that know me will be pleased to hear that a retired marine decided to run the end with me (end 3 miles that is!) and kept questioning me - which made me smile as I so often do this to motivate you and I am stuck with a marine pushing me to just make the last mile a little faster even when I am resembling a ripe tomato- its all relative as I always say!

So as we come over the finish line, I wonder what we will find in our goody bags this time…!!  Mars Bars, condoms, cereal samples and water, plus the honoury t shirt….. these are all things that have appeared in the past - the relevance of some I am unsure about but it adds to the fun of the race!  I am pleased to say that my time also counted to part of the Westbury Harriers Ladies Winning Team - bonus - thank you speedy ladies :-)

So I challenge you to sign up to something in 2010 that you are unsure if you can complete but would like to give it a go (Slaughterford 9 in Jan is a mad one….) then contact us and be sure that we will help you achieve your goal and beyond!  Why not - have courage!

And in the meantime we look forward to welcoming you to the Christmas Cracker 10km in fancy dress, Festive Final Big Beasting and the Festive Bootcamp Weekend - visit the courses and events to find out more.

Bonfire Night Recipes - yum!

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

 autumn-leaves.jpg

Remember, remember the 5th of November - to feed your body all the good stuff over the winter to help boost your immune system and give you lots of energy :-)

So make sure you do look after yourself by feeding yourself the good stuff - homemade soups, lots of seasonal vegetables, beans, grains, pulses and good quality local meats - as well as of course the seasonal puddings of apple and rhubarb crumble - as long as you are exercising its fine to have some of the puddings - plus crumble gives you two portions of your fruit and makes you feel great!

As many of you will be out and about on Bonfire’s Night and over the weekend we thought we would give you a recipe to have in a flask, or ready for when you arrive home…

Energised Leek and Potato Soup

Ingrediants:

* 2tbsp coconut butter

* 2 medium leeks chooped into 2-3cm wide pieces

* 8oz of peeled and chopped potatoes of your favourite variety (my Dad would suggest Maris Pipers..being the farmer within him!)

* I pint vegetable stock (or you could use stock from cooking a chicken or veg in if you have it..)

1 clove of garlic finely chopped - fabulous for your immune and respiratory system

1 bay leaf

Sea salt and black pepper

1/2 pt milk (optional if you like it a little creamy)

Handful of fresh herbs finely chopped - parsley or mixed will work well

** You can swap or add some turnips to the amount of potatoes to add a bit of a different tast to the soup and a mixture of vitamins and minerals - yummy!

What to do!

 1. Melt the coconut butter and then add the leeks and potatoes and cool until soft (about 5 mins of so)

2. Add the tock, garlic, bay leaf, sea salt and pepper and cover - then simmer for 30mins.

3. Leave to cool slightly and remove the bay leaf

4. Belnd for 30 secs on max power - if you like the pototoes and leeks to still be in pieces and make it a ‘country chunky’ soup then skip this step!

6. Pour into bowls or your flask, make or buy some local fresh bread rolls (if you live in Bristol Zest on Stoke Lane have some delicious ones but you have to get there early!!)

7. Enjoy!

So there you have it - a quick and simple soup to give you lots of energy other the coming winter days.  Try it - so much tastier that the bought ones, cheaper and without the additives so even better for you!
